The lady on the stairway

Beth and I were friends for over 22 years. We shared so much together, good times and bad, hilariously funny and sad. We were able to connect on so many levels. I enjoyed being with my friend, or just having long phone chats. She was interested in everything I was doing, and always asked about every member of my family. Beth genuinely cared for people and was often misunderstood and taken advantage of for her huge gift of mercy. Beth had a strong faith in Jesus which we spoke about often. The night she told me about the cancer was a very difficult one with many conflicting emotions. I ended our conversation by telling her that I was going to storm heaven for her healing. It was a very restless night for me as I would wake up at all hours of the night thinking of her and praying for that God would heal her body. I awoke the next morning with a very vivid dream. I saw an open heaven with a ladder coming down to the earth. Everything was bathed in light. At the bottom of the ladder was a blonde haired woman, dressed in a white shimmering gown, ascending the ladder. I knew Beth was the woman, and that God was saying, Rest now, your friend is in my hands, and she will be with me for all eternity. That dream saddened me, to think that I would soon be saying goodbye to a very dear friend. It also comforted me to know where Beth would be for all eternity. I miss her so much, but I know that one day we will pick up our friendship where we left off. Beth is among the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on, and she will be there to greet me and welcome me in to Heaven. Goodbye for now my friend. We will meet again in a much better place. Jesus said to his friends as He was about to go away. "In my house are many mansions: If it were not so I would have told you; I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Heb. 12:1
